Wie Ihr ja sicher wisst, war ich vergangene Woche in New York. Ich war nicht das erste Mal im Big Apple und konnte deshalb mit meinem Mister ganz entspannt die Tage genießen. Was mir aber wieder einmal einen Strich durch die Rechnung machte, war das Wetter. Wir hatten zwar jeden Tag strahlenden Sonnenschein, keine Wolke am Himmel, dafür aber war es eisig kalt. Bei unserer Ankunft hatte es noch 15 Grad und am nächsten Tag 9 Grad Minus, unglaublich! Ich hatte mich auf so eine Kälte nicht wirklich eingestellt. Was noch dazu kam, es blies unaufhörlich ein lästiger kalter Wind. Ohne Haube, Handschuhe, Stiefel und einen dicken Schal ging da gar nichts. Ich kann Euch sagen, wir froren entsetzlich. Natürlich kann man sich im März keine sehr warmen Temperaturen erhoffen, aber das es dann schlussendlich doch so kalt war, damit haben wir wirklich nicht gerechnet.
As you probably know I was in New York last week. It wasn’t my first time in the Big Apple and so my Mister and I had a nice and relaxed time there. Once again, however, the weather was not quite what we had expected. It was nice and sunny everyday and not a single cloud in sight, but it was absolutely freezing. When we arrived it had close to -5°F and the next day we had 16°F, unbelieveable! I did not expect such temperatures. To add to the cold, it was also really windy. You could not really go outside without a cap, gloves, boots and a heavy scarf. Believe me, we were freezing all the time. Of course we did not expect nice and warm temperatures in March, but this was a little worse than we had hoped for.
Eigentlich hatten wir vor, ein paar Shootings mit besonderen Outfits zu machen, daran war aber bei der Kälte nicht zu denken! Nun blieb uns letztendlich nichts übrig und es wurde nur ein Shooting daraus, dafür aber war die Location traumhaft. So steht bei diesen Bildern nicht Fashion im Vordergrund sondern das neue One World Tradecenter oder auch Freedom Tower genannt. Mit seinen 105 Stockwerken gehört es zwar nicht mehr zu den höchsten Gebäuden der Welt, aber ist der ganze Stolz der New Yorker. Es hat sich auch noch ein zweiter Tower dazugesellt und ein dritter befindet sich gerade in Bau.
At first we had plans to do a few shoots with special outfits, the cold however did not allow for any of those! In the end, we settled for just one shooting, the location for that was beautiful however. In this shoot, it’s not the outfit that’s in the limelight, but the new One World Tradecenter, a.k.a. the Freedom Tower. With 105 stories it’s not one of the world’s tallest buildings, but it has become the pride of every New Yorker. There’s already a second tower and a third one is being built at this moment.
Wir wollten uns unbedingt auch noch das Observatory, die Aussichtsplattform, ansehen, aber mit 37 Euro pro Person war es uns dann doch zu teuer. Wir hatten zwar den New York-Pass, aber leider konnte man mit diesem das World Trade Center nicht gratis besuchen. Vielleicht bei unserem nächsten New York Aufenthalt.
We had planed to check out the observatory, but at 37€ per person we decided to skip it. We did have the New York Pass, unfortunately though the World Trade Center was not included. Maybe next time.
Mein Outfit war, wie ich Euch schon zu Beginn erzählte, nicht sehr aufregend und eigentlich kennt Ihr es schon, aber wie gesagt, hier hat mir der Freedom Tower die Show gestohlen.
My outfit was, as I have said before, not very exciting and you actually know it already, but, like I said, the Freedom Tower stole the show.
Ich trug meine schwarze Lieblingsjacke, dazu eine schwarze Jeans, einen dicken kuscheligen Wollpullover – es war mir so kalt, dass ich die Jacke auch nicht wirklich aufknöpfen wollte. Eigentlich bin ich sehr froh, dass ich mir im Jänner noch eine warme Wollmütze und dicke Lammfellfäustlinge zugelegt habe, ich wäre erfroren. An manchen Tagen waren meine Hände trotz der warmen Fäustlinge rot vor Kälte. Last but not least ein dicker Fake Fur Schal und Lederstiefletten, die waren auch nicht wirklich kältetauglich und so habe ich die Stiefel mit dicken Socken getragen.
I was wearing my faourite black jacket, combined with a black pair of jeans, a heavy, cuddly wool sweater – I was so cold, that I didn’t really want to open up my jacket. I’m actually quite happy that I had bought a warm wool cap and heavy lambskin mittens in January, I would have frozen to death without them. On some days, my hands were red because of the cold even though I was wearing the warm mittens. Last but not least, a heavy fake fur scarf and leather boots, which were not quite up to the task of keeping my feet warm, so I wore thick socks underneath.
Für mich war es trotzdem ein wunderschöner Tag in New York und eines haben wir daraus gelernt: Nie wieder im März nach New York zu reisen.
Anyway, it was a lovely day in New York for me and we learned something new – never to go to New York in March again.
