Vergangene Woche durften wir die Cocktails und kleinen Speisen der OMU Bar in der Kolingasse 7, 1090 Wien, verkosten. Die lässige Bar liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe der Währinger Straße (Schottentor) und ist deshalb auch sehr gut mit der U-Bahn oder Straßenbahn erreichbar.
In der OMU Bar werden feine Aperitifs, Cocktails und Small Eats im Tapas – Style serviert. Außerdem sorgen wechselnde DJs für einen coolen Sound. Bis zu 120 Gäste haben Platz, das Ziegel – Separée kann für private Feste und Events gemietet werden und bietet Platz für ca. 45 Personen.
Last week we were invited to check out the cocktails and small meals at OMU Bar at Kolingasse 7, 1090 Vienna. The casual bar is located near Währinger Straße (Schottentor), which makes it relatively easy to reach it with public transport.
OMU Bar serves fine aperitives, cocktails and small eats in style of tapas. Different DJs take care of the col sound. The place has room for about 120 people, you can rent the Ziegel – Separée for private events, it’s big enough for about 45.
Gastronomin Sabrina Royer betreibt die OMU Bar und das Restaurant Kolin, quasi gleich nebenan. Für die Speisen ist ihr Bruder Alexander Royer verantwortlich, Felipe Betancourt für die ausgezeichneten Cocktails. Kleine gemütliche Tische mit hübschen Windlichtern und bequemen Hockern erwarteten uns.
Gastronomer Sabrina Royer is head of the OMU Bar and the restaurant Kolin, right next door. Her brother, Alexander Royer, takes care of the food and Felipe Betancourt is responsible for the extraordinary cocktails. We were greeted by a couple of comfortable tables, pretty little lanterns and lovely stools.
Zur Begrüßung wurde uns ein Rose & Berry Cocktail serviert. Wir kannten den Drink schon aus dem Kolin und waren auch dieses Mal wieder sehr begeistert. Vermouth blanc, Lychee und Fentimans Rose Lemonade sorgen für ein Geschmackserlebnis par excellence.
First things first, we received a Rose & Berry Cocktail. We were already familiar with this drink from the Kolin and we were quite happy with it once again. Vermouth blanc, Lychee and Fentimans Rose Lemonade combined into an explosion of taste.
Zwischen den Cocktails wurden uns kleine Häppchen serviert:
- Eine fruchtige Kürbis-Ingwersuppe – für Veganer bestens geeignet;
Between different cocktails we were served a few little delicacies:
- A lovely Pumpkin-Ginger soup – ideal for vegans;
- Gebackene Chorizio im Frühlingsrollenteig – wir waren begeistert – und
- Fried Chorizio in a pancake roll – we were amazed – and
- Kokos-Reisbällchen mit einem fruchtigen Basilikum-Mangodip;
- Coconut-Rice balls with a fruity basil-mango dip;
- Weiters bekamen wir Süßkartoffel „Turkey“ Chili mit Weißbrot auf den Tisch. Wer gerne scharf isst, ist hier genau das richtig.
- We also got sweet potato „Turkey“ Chili with white bread. If you like spicy food, this is for you.
- Ein Mini Salmon Burger sorgte bei uns für Staunen, der Burger war wirklich sehr klein, aber der Inhalt schmeckte himmlisch. Gebratenes Lachsfilet mit Sojasauce, eine raffinierte rote Rüben-Zitronenmayonnaise, Salat und Guacamole – eine richtige Gaumenfreude.
- We were astonished by the Mini Salmon Burger, it was really tiny but tasted heavenly. Roasted salmon with soy sauce, an ingenious beetroot-lemon mayonnaise, salad and guacamole – an amazing meal.
- Genau so gut: Der Mini Roastbeef Burger, auch hier sorgen die tollen Zutaten wie Tranchen vom Beiried mit hausgemachter BBQ-Sauce, Rucola und Röstzwiebel für Freude, großes Lob an den Küchenchef Alexander Royer.
- Just as good – The Mini Roastbeef Burger, the ingredients for this one, like the roastbeef with homemade BBQ sauce, rocket and roasted onions, were just as amazing, hats off to chef Alexander Royer.
- Es gab auch noch einen warmen Schokokuchen mit Rotwein-Zwetschken und frischen Beeren, aber auch überbackene Nusspalatschinken. Leider waren wir schon so satt, dass wir den süßen Gang ausließen.
- They also served hot Chocolate cake with red wine-plums and fresh berries, as well as Nut-pancakes, unfortunatelly we were quite full at this point so we had to skip this course.
Der nächste Drink, den wir verkosten durften, war der Nestor: Beefeater 24, Galliano, Vanille, Earl Grey und Eiweiß – eine wirkliche Köstlichkeit.

Alnis Fazit/Alnis conclusion
Nette Atmosphäre, gutes Essen, freundliches Personal. Einziger Minuspunkt: In der Bar ist es – für unseren Geschmack – etwas zu dunkel, aber damit können wir leben!
A nice ambience, great food, friendly staff. Only downside, the place is – for our taste anyway – a little too dark, but we can live with this one!
